The new year is bringing new members, and new passions. Our members are starting to ask if they can present some of the things they have been working on or have built in the past and want to show it off.
Last week we had a great Overview of PHP by our member John Rockefeller [@Rocky1138]. The data projector was under repair so we used Google Wave as a common place for everyone to read the examples John had put together.
This week we have Tony Thompson [@tonious] coming in to show off some of the projects he’s been working on. His Presentation will be on the Arduino Platform, he has a previously documented demo. He’s also going to show us some robots that he made and programmed using some Python Code.
Make sure to come out and see Tony’s presentation:

Alright Coffee and Coders, Its time to get excited! Last week we had our last meeting at The Albion Hotel, they were a great host and I’d like to thank them for allowing us to use their space all these months. There is a new Era ahead in Guelph Coffee and Code, we have moved out of the bar scene and have landed ourselves into a more suited Environment.
I’d like to invite you all out to our new location for this weeks Coffee and Code event at Synnema [121 Wyndham Street North Suite 106].
The Event will run it’s normal course on Thursday Evening from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
With our new location announcement out of the way, I’d like to bring focus back to our Windows Azure Project.
Our member Karl Baader was the first person in our Technology Focus Panel to launch his Hello World Application into the cloud on Windows Azure. For this Karl wins himself a copy of Learning XNA 3.0
Be sure to come out to Guelph Coffee and Code for help deploying your applications to Windows Azure.
See you all on Thursday!
Good Day Fellow Technology Enthusiasts!
Last week John Oxley came out an announced that he wanted Guelph Coffee and Code to be part of a Technology Focus Panel. Our group graciously excepted. Our first mission deploy 20 applications (minimum) to Windows Azure.
If you don’t know what Windows Azure is, it is Microsofts Cloud Computing Platform. It allows you to host Applications in the cloud not needing to worry about maintaining a server. If you are interested in checking out, and launching an application to Azure there are still some spots left. Be sure to come out to this weeks Coffee and Code Event!
Here’s the details:
Day: Thursday November 19th
Time: 7:30-9:30pm
Location: The Albion Hotel (we’re going to be getting a new location soon)
Agenda: I [Cory Fowler] will be going around to all of the Focus Panel participants to make sure they are set up with their Azure Environments, and to answer any questions they have about attempting to deploy their application to the cloud.
Do I hear a Contest? Let’s do it!
The first person to show me that they have successfully launched an application in the cloud will win a copy of Learning XNA 3.0 from O’Reilly Books.
